At Mushin Combat Academy we are proud to announce that we have promoted one of our own students to a junior coach.

Caitlin Lucas was presented with the ‘Junior Coach award’ at Budo Live’s recent December event in honour of her hard work  & dedication with assisting  teaching classes and coaches.

While still in school, the Junior brown belt has selflessly dedicated her time to help the younger generation in fun and innovative ways and is a welcome addition to the roster of coaches at the club.

Following her award  Caitlin said: “It’s amazing that all this time teaching has resulted in this. I’m made up with [the] junior coach award because it means that I have succeeded that one bit further. Thank you so much so I am over the moon.

The 14-year-old credited her success with the positive effect that Sue King has had on her saying it was King Senseis  ‘impact’ on the gym which makes it what it is and the youngster hopes she can follow in her mentor’s footsteps and be an ‘inspiration’ to others.

Caitlin was humble in her acceptance and stated that she would make both her parents proud in her continuing journey at Team Mushin.

King  sensei who nominated Lucas for her award said: “Caitlin was made a junior coach because of her commitment and dedication towards the gym, not only was she volunteering but naturally [Caitlin] began to mentor the youngsters who needed the little extra 1-1 support, she  truly embodies the values of the gym.

“We are very proud of Caitlin, her passion for teaching and paying it forward which is a very rare gift these days.”
